 The Mouse is Dead!

On the eve of his fight with Tony Ferranti, former middle-weight champion, Mickey Morse, known as ‘Mickey Mouse’ is visited by Irish Donnellan. ‘We’ve backed the wog,’ says Irish. ‘And that,’ says Mickey, ’is that!’ He doesn’t like it. He thinks of all the people who have put their hard-earned moola on him. People like Jack, the ring announcer and the fans who support him – even his mother. And now he was going to do the dirty on them. He feels low but he knows there is no way out. The real bother begins when he sees Cristal take her seat. She is beautiful ... the kind of woman that sets a man alight. From the moment Mickey sees her he knows she is trouble, but he still wants her. The thought that this beautiful woman will see him lying on the deck being counted out while his opponent, Ferranti, prances around the joint is too much for Mickey and in a rush of blood he catches the young Italian with a real ‘sucker punch’ and knocks him out! Now all he has to do is get out of the stadium alive!
